DC41 Dyson Animal Pros and Cons Review

DC41 Dyson Animal

The DC41 Dyson Animal is the latest full-size upright bagless vacuum addition to the Dyson’s family of vacuum cleaners, its first to adapt an improved radial root cyclone technology for its suction principle. It boasts of easy manoeuvrability, e.g., getting around obstacles, as it pivots on a ball and not on wheels, where you can only manage one directional easy steering. The minor complaint against the DC41 is its cleaner head being bigger than a traditional cleaner head.

There are only two controls for on and off switching on the DC41 Dyson Animal. These are the power switch and brush bar control. When the power switch is switched on, the brush bar control automatically switches on as well.

The DC41 Dyson Animal comes with three tools, the combination accessory tool, i.e., combination crevice tool/brush and the stair tool i.e., upholstery brush, both having on-board storage areas on the vacuum while the mini turbine head has to be stored somewhere else.

The 35 foot power cord of DC41 Dyson Animal is enough for you to clean a large area on a single power connection, however, complaints of its non-automatic retraction have been raised. The hose can be detached from the vacuum handle base and converts to a telescopic extension wand.

A slight redesign was incorporated in the DC41 Dyson Animal bin with its curved base for a much easier slide out of debris. Its usage is so elementary; a button push to remove the dirt holder and a button press for dirt release. The same button is pushed and pressed.

The DC41 Dyson Animal with its weight at 17.4 lbs. is heavier than some vacuums, but lighter than other Dysons. It uses 2 washable filters, a pre-filter inside the ball and an exhaust filter in the bin. Both can be removed easily and are recommended for washing every 3 months.

The DC41 Dyson Animal performs a good job lifting spilled food, fine dust, truck-in dirt, pet hair and debris, e.g., rice grain and noodles, off a carpet or hard floor, provided the brush head always remain in contact with the surface it is cleaning. It keeps sucking up dirt until every possible nook and cranny of the clear bin is filled.

Based on DC41 Dyson Animal cleaning tests on long or high pile and short carpets and hard floor, it was a conclusion that it is more ideal for short carpets and hard floor than long or high carpets. The problem with the use of the vacuum on long or high pile carpets was found to be that a forward push of the vacuum causes it to pivot on its ball, lifting up the cleaner head, thus causing the cleaner head to lose contact with the carpet surface, disenabling it to agitate out the carpet dirt.

The DC41 Dyson Animal maybe louder than some vacuums at 75.5 decibels. However, its sound, similar to a deep growl than a high-pitched whine, is more pleasant than what is emitted by many vacuums.  Having a suction power of 235 watts, it is easy to understand why it consumes 1,372 watts of electricity when vacuuming with the brush roll switched on. The verdict is that this vacuum can not hurt your ears nor can it put your electric bill in the red, in other words, it is electrical usage efficient.

DC41 Dyson Animal vs. DC24

The DC41 outperforms the DC24 in cleaning, be it dirt on high pile carpet or debris on wood floors. Both are manoeuvrable due mainly to their ball technology with the DC24 having a slight edge in terms of lightness, as it can be lifted and moved around easier. The DC24 is vaguely quieter and energy efficient than the DC41, despite its smaller stance.

DC41 Dyson Animal vs. DC28

The DC28 outperforms the DC41 on thick carpets, despite its being an older, heavier and $50 more expensive. The DC41 captures about 1/3 of the high pile rug dirt that the DC28 is able to lift. The performance of the DC41 is hampered by the fact that its cleaner head does not always stay in contact with the thick carpet surface.

However, the DC41 Dyson Animal does a better short carpet job and the 2 are matched on hardwood floor cleaning and debris pickup.

There is no matchup between the two when it comes to manoeuvrability and quietness. While the DC41 make it quite easily around furniture and obstacles, lifting and turning the heavy and awkward DC28 measures a high degree of difficulty. As far as noise and energy thirst is concerned, the DC28 wins hands down.

DC41 Dyson Animal vs. LG LuV200R

The performance of the LG on high pile carpets is almost 3x better than the DC41 Dyson Animal, despite its costing much less. Both vacuums are on equal footing when it comes to wood floor cleaning and debris pick up.

The LG is harder to lift upstairs than the DC41 Dyson Animal since it is 7 lbs. heavier. In addition, it is more difficult to manoeuvre around obstacles owing to its tall and wide cleaner head.

While the DC41 Dyson Animal proved to be noisier than the LG, the reverse is true as far as energy efficiency is concerned.Try DC41 Dyson Animal Today!
